ANVIL Ethiopian - Ayele Fulasa Gesha - Micro lot
Ethiopia | Yirgacheffe | Natural Process | Roasted Coffee Beans
A beautifully distinctive Ethiopian coffee from Ayele Fulasa, grown at an impressive 2005 metres above sea level in Werkasakaro, Yirgacheffe.
This is a light-roasted coffee with a wonderfully expressive cup, offering forest fruits and delicate white-wine character, with the natural processing adding extra depth and sweetness.
It is particularly enjoyable as an espresso, where its fruit-forward character really comes alive, and also makes an exceptional flat white.
Forest fruits. White wine. Ethiopian character.
Ayele Fulasa grows the JARC 74110 variety on his farm in the Yirgacheffe region. The coffee is selectively hand-picked, with ripe cherries carefully separated before being laid out on raised bamboo beds to dry naturally in the sun.
The cherries are regularly raked and inspected during drying, which takes approximately 2–3 weeks. This careful processing helps develop the distinctive fruit character that makes naturally processed Ethiopian coffees so exciting.
Meet the Farmer – Ayele Fulasa
Coffee has been part of Ayele Fulasa's family for generations, with cultivation and processing knowledge passed down through his family.
Ayele inherited four hectares from his father and has since purchased a further three hectares using profits from his coffee production. His farm is supported through the Lalisaa project, which provides training in cultivation, harvesting and processing.
The aim of Lalisaa is to help smallholder farmers improve quality, yields and access to better markets, while giving producers greater involvement in the coffee supply chain.
Ayele's coffee is a great example of what can be achieved when traditional knowledge is combined with careful processing and specialist agronomy support.

How We Roast It
(If you would like your beans ground, please let us know which grind you require)
At ANVIL Coffee Roasters, we roast this coffee lightly to preserve and highlight the character of the bean.
Rather than roasting away its natural fruit and acidity, our approach allows the forest-fruit sweetness and subtle white-wine character to shine through.
For espresso, expect a vibrant and characterful shot with plenty of fruit. Add steamed milk and it develops into a beautifully distinctive flat white, retaining its fruit character while becoming smoother and more rounded.
